Romance On the Shore of Beautiful Lake Bemidji.
A romantic getaway weekend to Bemidji, Minnesota would include a stay at Villa Calma, an early twentieth century mansion turned Italian style bed and breakfast. It is located on the shore of Lake Bemidji and right across the street from the start of the Paul Bunyan Trail System. Hopefully, a stroll or a bike ride to one of the many destinations on the trails, including Diamond Point Park, Bemidji State University, or Bemidji State Park, would take place at a time when bald eagles are flying over the lake.

Browsing through the shops in town is a good opportunity to take in part of the sculpture walk which begins at the Tourist Center down by the statues of Paul and Babe on the lakefront. The truly romantic will seek out Chocolates Plus, an elegant candy store on Beltrami Avenue. For intimate conversation and light lunch, there are coffee houses. Cantabria, the Cabin, and Wild Hare come to mind.
